NBC Orders New Comedies From Tina Fey, Parks & Recreations Michael Schur

NBC has ordered new comedy projects from the “30 Rock” team of Tina Fey and Robert Carlock and from “Parks & Recreation” creator Michael Schur.

NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt announced the high-profile pickups, both from Universal Television, Thursday during his presentation at the Television Critics Assn. press tour at the Beverly Hilton.

The Fey-Carlock project was created by another “30 Rock” alum, Tracey Wigfield. It revolves around a millennial woman whose life is complicated when her New Jersey mother gets an internship at the cable network where she works. Wigfield earned an Emmy for co-writing the “30 Rock” finale with Fey.

NBC has given the untitled project a pilot order. Fey, Carlock, Wigfield and 3 Arts’ David Miner are exec producing.

Schur’s project landed a straight-to-series 13-episode order off a strong pitch that bowled over Greenblatt and NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke. Details are being kept under wraps but Greenblatt said it revolves around a “strong, very complicated female character” who is “wrestling with what it means to be good,” Greenblatt said.
